04 Mar North Toronto is proud to announce a 3 year partnership with Hockey Equality
North Toronto is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Hockey Equality which supports NT’s commitment to diversity and inclusion in its hockey programme. – March 2, 2023.
Hockey Equality is a charity that was founded in 2021 by former NHLer and GTHL Alumnus Anthony Stewart. It is working to create sustainable programming across North America designed to meet the needs of BIPOC, female and disadvantaged youth hockey players. Some of Hockey Equality’s current partners include the NHL, NHLPA, and the GTHL, among others.
Through your donations to the North Toronto Breakaway Fund, we have been able to commit to a 3-year partnership with Hockey Equality in which NT will donate $10,000 in 2023 and a portion of the Fund in 2024 and 2025. These contributions will go towards helping Hockey Equality design mentorship, development and educational programs and in lowering financial barriers for equity deserving youth.
Our partnership will involve educating our coaches, advocating and counselling for impacted families, helping advise the club in areas of EDI as well as having NTHA members adopt the Hockey Equality Accountability Project Pledge. In addition to financial support, North Toronto will also work to provide additional resources to help support Hockey Equality’s initiatives.
Working together with Hockey Equality to help make the game better for everyone!
